Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

You will be judged based on the following:

1. Collaboration and Teamwork

    • Communication (15 points): Evaluate how well team members communicate with each other. Consider effective use of tools, clarity in expressing ideas, and active participation by all team members.

    • Team Dynamics (15 points): Assess the overall team dynamics, cooperation, and mutual respect within the team. Look for instances where team members support and encourage each other.

    • Leadership (10 points): Recognize any leadership qualities displayed within the team. This may include guiding the team through challenges, ensuring everyone is involved, and making effective decisions.

2. Problem-Solving Skills

    • Approach to Challenges (15 points): Evaluate the team's approach to solving the problems presented in the escape room. Consider creativity, innovation, and adaptability in the face of unexpected obstacles.

    • Critical Thinking (10 points): Assess the team's ability to analyze problems critically and apply logical reasoning to devise solutions.

    • Decision-Making (5 points): Recognize instances where the team makes informed decisions, especially in situations with time constraints.

3. Technical Skills

    • Coding Proficiency (5 points): Assess the team's coding skills, considering the correctness and efficiency of their solutions.

    • Application of Knowledge (10 points): Assess the team’s utilization of skills learned through the presentations at Code I/O.

    • Adaptability to Tools and Platforms (5 points): Evaluate the team's ability to adapt and effectively use coding tools and platforms provided.

    • Problem Understanding (5 points): Consider how well the team understands the technical challenges presented.

4. Reflection

    • Documentation (5 points): Evaluate any documentation or notes the team creates to explain their thought process and solutions.

    • Reflection (5 points): Consider how well the team reflects on their performance, learns from mistakes, and iterates on their solutions.
